Alcohol Treatment Programs in Yorkton, Manitoba
The youth of Yorkton are important. Located near the border of Manitoba and home to nearly fifteen thousand people, there are many who call this area home. There are just as many youth who have lost friends to drunk driving. There are parents here in Yorkton who are tired of watching other parents say goodbye and worrying about when or if they will have to do the same thing.
How it began
Many parents look at the area of Yorkton and wonder when it was that they started worrying about their teens. When was it that the teens found it fun to drink and drive? This is something they all want to know. There are tributes to teens that have lost their lives to drunk driving. Maybe it was when the town started booming and becoming a sport of economic development. With that, it means longer hours and more taxes.
Other Programs for Treatment
Other alcohol treatment programs in Manitoba are being created to help bring the awareness of alcohol addictions, drunk driving, and underage drinking to the table to both parents and teens. There are many who say if they would have understood more about the consequences that happen when you allow a drunken person to drive, they wouldn’t have been in the car. The same is true about educating those about the risks of becoming addicted to alcohol. This is what alcohol treatment programs center like the Party Program that has been started aim to do. They aim to give the proper education to try and prevent the trauma that other parents have had to endure.
Therapeutic places are being designed as well to help those who have already become addicted to the drugs and the alcohol. They hope to open more to help the youth of Yorkton and other areas of Canada.
The Latest Tragedy
Everyone was talking about the three boys that have been killed in a car accident due to a drunk driver. There have been pictures of the crash that have been made public and used to promote programs in the schools to do something about the issue of drunk driving and hopefully to quit with the loss of lives because underage drinkers get behind the wheel. With this, it is the hope of parents that the teens lives that have been lost can be used for good to get those who are thinking about drinking and driving to abstain from doing so.
