Holistic treatment approach
When one thinks of holistic, they need to understand that it is not actually a treatment method, but instead how a treatment should be carried out. This approach can be carried out by using the bio-physical treatment, religious treatment, 12-steps treatment etc. It administers spiritual, mental and physical aspects of treatment.
The holistic concept is more than maintaining and achieving good health is more than taking care of specific physical parts of the body to make a whole, but it also includes both spiritual and emotional aspects. The overall goal is to achieve a wellness for the entire individual both physically and spiritually rather than only being free of alcohol abuse.
Those who use the Holistic approach focus on not only the consequences of the addiction, but also the cause of the addiction in the first place. Most medical models are on the opposite end of the spectrum, which tend to treat the syndrome and the symptoms without ever delving into the actual cause of the problem or addiction.
Holistic drug rehab facilities use various methods of treatment. Unless specifically requiring an medically supervised detox program, there is generally no use of medication as a form of treatment. Because it allows for both individual and personal care, more and more rehab facilities are using the Holistic approach to begin the healing process for those addicted. The alcohol treatment program is generally created on a case-by-case basis, meeting the need of each individual patient, as opposed to many traditional treatment facilities, which offer a set program for everyone.
