Yukon may have a much smaller population then other Canadian provinces, but nonetheless many people are having trouble with alcohol addiction. The study compiled the answers of the Yukon population and reported that on average, people in the Yukon take 3.8 drinks per sitting. But when talking about the high risk part of the population, they drink on average 10.4 drinks per occasion, this is a highly dangerous drinking pattern. As for the frequency, the average for the population is 6.7 times per month. As far as the high risk population goes, it is 11.9 times every month.
Drunk driving is a problem that comes from all this abuse of alcohol. It has taken many lives in the Yukon and still goes to take them. But the officials of the Territory are really putting forward new measures in order to help curb drunk driving. Such things as the Alcohol Ignition Interlock device serve to stop people from drinking and then driving. MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) says that Yukon one of the few provinces/territories to be setting a good example with their programs against drunk driving.
