Alberta alcohol treatment

People are in much need of a good  alcohol treatment in Alberta. There are many people struggling with alcohol addiction who need professional care in order to win their fight against alcohol. There are many centres which are dedicated to treating alcohol. For example, in Alberta, there are in total almost 700 treatments of all kinds which can treat alcohol and drugs. Those include AA meetings which can be very beneficial psychologically to an addict. And there are also inpatient and outpatient alcohol treatments which can effectively rid people of their alcohol addiction.

The province Alberta is having some problems with alcohol. There are almost 80 percent of all Albertans that are 15 years or older who drink alcohol. Of course they don’t all drink the same amount or at the same frequency, but it is still a lot of people consuming alcohol in Alberta. Actually, drinking alcohol is not considered a bad thing in most of the communities of Alberta. When one drinks moderately, it is not so bad, but if one abuses alcohol, it can have dire consequences. There are more men than women who consumed alcohol in Alberta.

Half of the people who drink in Alberta don’t drink very often and don’t consume a big amount of alcohol each time. This is the ideal type of drinking as there are not as many consequences. There are almost 30 percent of the drinkers who drink lightly but frequently, this has some risks as one could develop an addiction to the alcohol. There are about 10 percent of the people who do some heavy drinking; often turning into binge drinking, but they do so once in a while. This can have some undesirable effects on the body organs, such as the liver. The last ten percent are people who drink heavily on a regular basis. This is the typical serious alcoholic and so it can really devastate one’s body.

Within students, binge drinking happens regularly. In a survey, almost 50 percent of the students (from Grade 7 to Grade 12) admitted to having done some binge drinking at least once over the past four weeks. Of course, binge drinking happens more often from Grade 10 to Grade 12.

Out of all the students in Alberta, there are 63.4 percent of them who drink alcohol at least once a year. Most of them cannot even legally drink. According to the specialists, there are about 37 percent of the Alberta students who engage in hazardous drinking.

Drunk Driving in Alberta


Drunk driving is a big problem in Alberta. It has taken many lives and destroyed even more. There were 35 percent of all the drivers who were fatally injured that were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. This means that we could reduce by thirty five percent the amount of people who die in car crashes or get injured in accidents if we could take out drunk driving definitively in Alberta.
