Alcohol Treatment Residential in New Brunswick

For a long time it was believed that all addiction to things like alcohol was simply a sign that a person did not have any strength of will, that they were not strong enough to stop drinking. It has slowly become increasingly obvious that the true reason people become addicted to alcohol is a great deal more complex than that. There are many factors includes psychological reasons, genetics, and environment that can lead to a lifetime struggle with an addiction.

The problem is that while the world's understanding of addictions has changed, the way that addicts are treated did not. Most alcohol treatment programs are become antiquated. There are some facilities that are still using very similar treatment programs to the ones that were used during the 1950’s. Government funded programs are prime examples of this type alcohol therapy.

The other down side to the government funded programs is that there simply are not enough of them. There is long waiting list for these programs. The long waiting list gives the addict plenty of time to change their mind. It is best if the addict is able to get a bed right away.

The antiquated approach to alcohol rehabilitation and the extensive wait is why many addicts are not taking advantage of the government funded programs and are getting admitted into the private programs that are located in New Brunswick. Many of the addicts find that the combining of different types of therapy is the rehab that works best for them. Another advantage to the private program is that they are generally longer than twenty-eight days which means the counseling sessions have an opportunity to actually be effective as opposed to rushed.

It is in New Brunswick’s best interest to take a hard look at their government run alcohol rehabs and decide how the current situation can be improved.
