Alcohol Treatment programs in Oromocto, New Brunswick

Oromocto, with a population of 9000, is a strong and growing community that is known to be Canada’s “model” town. It is also the home of Gage town; which is a very large military training base. Unlike many cities or small towns that may seem to just go with the flow with everything around them, this town specifically has a deep root of historical heritage, and tradition. But as these traditions, and form of cultural acts are passed on from generation to generation, they run through obstacles, and sometimes the true meaning behind the purpose is broken, or completely lost.  Substance abuse, such as alcohol, is just one of the obstacles that seem to strike this haven.

General situation

Oromocto is an almost trouble free town, that lives up to its name, being “Canada’s model town”. As much as it is free of pollution, with the cleanest streets, some citizens are not so clean themselves. Alcoholism is a rising issue. It may not be a huge problem specifically speaking in a town like this, but most individuals here would rather not share their pain with the rest of the world, locking within themselves, instead of ridding problems. This is an ordeal that, god forbid, could possibly grow into a mental illness, and worst case scenario, suicide. Many would be skeptical about the whole idea of someone killing themselves because of drinking, and hiding their pain, but it happens. We need to accept that it is one of many obstacles that we, together, can break through with the essential and proper care for individuals. The only thing hard thing is getting these troubled individuals to speak up, and admit that they do have a drinking problem. That is the first step in the healing process.

Treating alcoholic addictions

There are a couple of mental health centers, and rehabs that deal with substance abusers, including alcohol. The only problem is the whole idea of taking more drugs, to get off another seems to be an issue to many users. Counseling in an alcohol Treatment program in New Brunswick should be more concentrated in this area because there are not many individuals here that are extreme heavy users, but rather ones that keep quiet about it. That is still dangerous in the aspect that these individuals may bring harm upon themselves, and no one would know about it. More funding needs to be given to such alcohol treatment facilities in order to provide the necessary needs that many may make use of, and save lives. If the community focused on funding facilities through fundraisers, that alone would make a huge difference.

Teenage alcohol problems

Teenagers face many ongoing changes that may result in a form of pressure on their personality or actions. Teens living in “ Canada’s Model Town” are not as likely to get involved in substance abuse, but when found in a situation where they feel they have to drink to feel good, and they think their doing themselves a favor, that is where the tables slowly starts turning, and the issues get bigger from there. For such individuals, counseling should be offered and taken, either at a school, community center, or even at the doctor’s office. There are many people that are willing to help, but you just need to get to the right ones.

Driving while impaired

The vast majority of the population in oromocto would rather live a peaceful and safe life. There are not too many reports that talk about drunken driving accidents, although they do exist. No matter where you go, a sort of activity will always be there, the only difference is the number of people getting involved.
